Buick has four crossovers in its 2022 portfolio: Envision, Encore, Encore GX, and Enclave. Each was given new aesthetic cues and more standard luxury features, though some were changed more than others. Let's go over the changes for each model.

2022 Envision: What's New

The 2022 Buick Envision is a compact crossover in the second model year of the second generation. The 2022 edition carries various tweaks and improvements, such as:

  • A new Sapphire Metallic color has been added in place of the prior year's Dark Moon Blue Metallic.
  • Bright Silver 18-inch aluminum wheels are no longer available. Preferred grade 18-inch aluminum wheels have been added in their place.
  • A new Sport Touring package is available, adding ST emblems on the seat headrests and floor mats, alloy sport pedals, and red interior stitching.

All told, the Envision has plenty going for it in a compact package. The cabin of the Buick Envision is sleek and well-organized, with high-quality materials used throughout the interior. It boasts the same peaceful, passenger-friendly ride as most modern Buick vehicles, while still boasting 228 horsepower from a turbo four-cylinder engine.

2022 Encore GX: What's New

The 2022 Encore GX is the compact SUV segment's most opulent model for the price. It has more available technology and safety features than many rivals, as well as a more upscale cabin. Its interior and cargo room are both greater than normal for the class, and it's fun to drive without sacrificing passenger comfort. For 2022, the Encore GX gets a turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine with 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, which can be sent to the front wheels or all four.

For 2022, new colors have been added to the Encore GX palette, with four new options: Sunset Glow Metallic, Cinnabar Metallic, Sapphire Metallic, and Rosewood Metallic. Otherwise, the Encore GX goes largely unchanged from the previous year.

There's still enough to get thrilled about, especially on middle or higher trim levels. Try the Select for remote start and dual-zone automatic climate control. Customers can also choose between a Sport Touring Edition upgrade and a Black Roof Package to enhance the performance or exterior utility, respectively.

2022 Encore: What's New

The Buick Encore is a stylish subcompact SUV from Buick, similar to the Encore GX but a touch smaller and with further emphasis on convenience. It may be the smallest SUV currently sold in Buick's lineup, but the 2022 Encore received a very big update. Some changes improve the cabin experience, like a new electric heater and new first-row seatback map pockets, while others are related to the powertrain.

The most notable enhancement to the Buick Encore is new 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 155 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, a 17-horsepower increase over the 2021 Encore. The Encore's new engine is just as efficient overall, reaching 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the interstate compared to the previous model's 25 city mpg and 30 highway mpg.

2022 Enclave: What's New

If you need a seven-seat family SUV, don't miss out on the latest Enclave, which received significant updates to the tech and safety. The 2022 model has a new grille, headlamps, wheel designs, and rear end. Meanwhile, the inside carries a redesigned center dash console and a touch screen capable of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers also get an easy gear selection button to control the nine-speed automatic transmission. This button, like that found in recent Envision SUVs, makes shifting more intuitive.

The most impressive update is in standard safety technology. The 2022 Enclave gets automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, pedestrian detection, and blind-spot monitoring across the board, no upgrades necessary. Automatic high-beam headlamps, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors are also standard for 2022. Drivers can upgrade to adaptive cruise control through packages or higher trims, just like with the 2021 Enclave.

The updated Enclave is available in the same four trim levels: Preferred, Essence, Premium, and Avenir. It's that last trim, however, where things get interesting. The 2022 Enclave Avenir now includes a custom front and rear fascia with unique emblems, heated/ventilated/massaging seats, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced automatic emergency braking. It also gets body-colored lower trim panels, updated cabin wood trim, new quilted-leather seat upholstery, and front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage settings. Needless to say, drivers who want the biggest and fanciest Buick SUV will be more than pleased with the 2022 Enclave Avenir.

Leading the Way With Buick

The world continues to shift its expectations of large companies, with an emphasis on inclusion and listening to a greater diversity of people. In this goal of serving a diverse world, Buick continues to succeed where others struggle. Part of the automaker's success lies in their appeal to women, who do more shopping for new cars than men. Compared to other automakers, Buick has the highest percentage of female buyers among their United States customers at 56.1%.

A look through their marketing and history, such as the recent partnership with Hello Sunshine, shows Buick is eager to satisfy drivers of any gender. Buick marketing experts report a steady increase in female shopper and driver approval, so that focus is likely to continue throughout the decade. Overall, the brand reports plans to advertise on more woman-oriented advertising methods soon, serving as an accessible, unpretentious luxury car brand for all types of people.

Buick remains a classy, affordable source of genuine luxury vehicles. Even drivers with no experience driving a Buick are in for a pleasant and eye-opening test drive.
